Frequently asked questions about outdoor decking

Deckplanet is the best solution to replace natural wood in the decoration of decking.
Its technology is based on the extrusion technique from which a coating composed of recovered wood fibres and recycled PVC is obtained, resulting in a high quality, ecological and resistant product.

Types of Rastrel to install outdoor decking:

There are many possibilities and types of profiles to support the strips or planks of outdoor decking, we will now comment on the most commonly used types of strips or profiles.

Wooden rakeAmong the wooden battens, the most common is the R4 autoclave-treated pine battens. This treatment is especially for exteriors, in contact with the ground or with fresh water and exposed to permanent humidification. The treated pine strip is the most widely used in outdoor decking installations as it is the most economical option with optimum performance.

PVC or composite stripPVC or composite battens are usually made of the same material as the exterior flooring and manufactured using the same extrusion technique. They are available in hollow or solid structure and in various sizes. PVC battens with hollow structure are sensitive to the risk of losing firmness and yielding to weight.

Metal trackerThere are several options for metal battens, profiles or slats, which can be made of aluminium, iron or steel. These options are often used for more technical installations in projects with special characteristics.

Why choose the exterior flooring solid or solid composite?

The emergence of composite wood, composite or wpc is related to human awareness and the importance of preserving forests as well as the possibility that technology has made it possible to manufacture an alternative to natural wood, overcoming the natural characteristics of wood.

In composite materials, typically about 70% of recycled materials are incorporated, making it a "green" product. A wood composite typically has a density greater than 1.15 making it an engineered material that is composed of elements that ensure the greatest longevity without the need for maintenance.

In its genesis, it is composed of wood and a polymer that are ultimately bonded together by polyolefins. The polymer acts as the bridge between the wood fibres, fulfilling the function of protecting the wood. In this composition, elements are introduced to achieve high density, high fungus resistance, UV resistance and also pigments, so that the colour of the wood is durable.

Polymers can be of various types, from polyolefins (polyethylene, polypropylene), PVC, glass fibre, ABS or even a mixture of all of them.

Solid composite decking. This product offers high performance. It is obviously a more expensive product, however, it is much more durable and reliable.

Its main advantages are:

Ø High impact resistance (as it is a solid profile, its mechanical resistance is very high).

Ø low water absorption (generally less than 0,5% when immersed in water for 24 hours).

Ø Very mechanically stable (when sheared, it maintains its characteristics, because if it is dough)
